Outgoing Lake County Board Commissioner Dick Barr announced on his Facebook page an upcoming “Denauguration Party.” He is holding this event as a way to thank the residents of the 3rd district for the opportunity to serve.
Per his post, “Thank you so much District 3 for an amazing opportunity to represent and serve you. For many of you, I brought a new level of awareness of what our County Board is and does, using my unique communication style. And while I know I didn’t make everyone happy, I did it My Way!”
The event to be held on December 8th, 6PM at Sundance Saloon in Mundelein is free and features live performances by tribute band Mellencougar and Judson Brown of the Judson Brown Band. Barr alludes to taking the stage himself to sing a rendition of Frank Sinatra’s My Way.
In his post, Barr says, “Leave your partisan political hats at home and come celebrate my return to the private life, with an amazing and talented line up of music and fun.”
Holding a free party to thank residents and encourage people from both sides of the political aisle to join in an evening of free music and fun is the kind of spirit we need more of in our nation. We also enjoy the clever nature and humor in the branding of this event. We hope Barr’s event is well attended.
