In the latest installment of northwest suburban bovines on the loose, Barrington Hills police are asking residents to be aware of a 1,600-pound bull that made its way off a local property.

The brown and white beast was reported missing over the weekend and was spotted Sunday near the intersection of Illinois Route 62 and Old Sutton Road, police said.

The bull was photographed Tuesday about a half-mile north of that location. Police distributed pictures on the BHPD Facebook page that were taken by a security camera and showed the bull wandering through someone’s backyard. A swing set was visible in the background of one of the pictures.

Although the bull may appear docile, police are warning people to not approach it and to call authorities if they see it.

The wayward bull is wandering an area about 15 miles south of where an American bison was captured in the spring of 2022.
