According to Wauconda police, a 38 year old man died in a crash that occured Wednesday morning. His vehicle crashed into a retention pond.
First responders arrived at the scene near Garland Road and Main Street in Wauconda after receiving a report of a vehicle upside down in the water.
According to police, Wauconda fire crews got the man out of the vehicle within 10 minutes. He was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
Witnesses said they saw the car traveling north on Main Street before hitting the curb at Garland, and landing upside-down in the pond.
The Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team and Wauconda police are investigating the incident. An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday morning.
