On Sunday October 20th a women’s march is set to take place starting at 3pm in Buffalo Grove. Marchers will gather at 1180 W Lake Cook Road. The march is organized by local activists Alicia Timm and Carolyn Pinta. The goal of the event is to bring people together in protection of rights and encourage everyone to vote. The public is welcome and invited to join.

Since Roe v Wade protections were removed by the US Supreme Court, millions of women across this nation have been unable to obtain health care. Some women have died as a result and there have been cases where young women who were rape victims, had to carry unwanted pregnancies to term.

Former president Donald J Trump purposefully stocked the court with three justices who opposed choice. On schedule and through the Dobbs decision in 2022, protections afforded by Roe have been stripped away. In spite of the suffering, Trump is proud and says, “After 50 years of failure, with nobody coming even close, I was able to kill Roe v. Wade.” Now that he is seeking another term, Trump claims he is supportive of choice, even though Project 2025 calls for a legislative national abortion ban.

“Donald Trump has a long history of lying,” says Alicia Timm. “He tells lies every single day and if he says something, the polar opposite is what’s usually true. If elected, he will sign that ban.”

Trump also has a long history of denigrating women through his verbal commentary and actions. He was recently found guilty by a jury of sexually assaulting a woman. Trump cheated on his wife during her pregnancy with Stormy Daniels and later paid her hush money. His commentary about women over the years speaks for itself.

“Trump now says he will be a “protector” of women which is beyond Orwellian,” says Carolyn Pinta. “His hand picked VP candidate JD Vance has established himself as anti-choice and helped with Project 2025. Trump and Vance are clear enemies of women’s rights. It is unequivocal.”

Timm and Pinta encourage women, men and children to join the march. “Together as a community we can make a powerful statement.” they said. “Most importantly please vote. It will make a real difference.”

While a quantity of signs will be available, attendees are encouraged to make and bring their own if inspired to do so.
