In a few short weeks, some of us county board members and staff will be going to Washington. We will be going there to represent our communities.
We will be demanding every dollar promised to us to help our veterans, safeguard our neighborhoods and protect our environment. Article I of our Constitution ensured the money Congress promised us can’t be denied. As you know, all Lake County Board members swore an oath to this Constitution. And we are always thrilled to work with our state and federal delegations.
How do we build better communities with your tax dollars from Washington and Springfield? We’re building safer roads in Round Lake. We’re preventing gun violence in North Chicago, Waukegan and Zion. We’re investing in public health and the environment throughout the county. We’re even restoring a wetland in Third Lake.
We will continue to fight for dignified health care, a healthy environment, safe streets and affordable housing. Working together, we can engage in what Lincoln called the better angels of our nature. Let’s dedicate ourselves to the great task remaining before us.
John Wasik
County Board Member (District 6 — Grayslake, Hainesville, Round Lake, Third Lake, Lake Villa Township)
