On Tuesday April 1st voters will head to the polls and choose two candidates to serve on the College Of Lake County Board of Trustees. It is a tight race with 7 candidates vying for the two seats. To us, one candidate rises above the field.

Vaseem Iftekhar spent a career in financial and project management at the corporate level. He brings a valuable skill set at a time when it is particularly needed. The CLC projected budget estimates a deficiency of 8.3% and his financial management experience will prove critical as the board navigates the shortfall. Iftekhar knows that it can be done without raising taxes.

“We need to strengthen the relationship with companies doing business in Lake County and seek financial support and establish a mutual beneficial relationship. We need to strengthen the revenues generated by the CLC Foundation. We need to do a better marketing job in enrolling students in all areas of Lake County. I do not support tax increases as taxes or fee increases.” said Iftekhar.

Vaseem deeply values education and knows how important the college is to young people on their educational journey and working professionals seeking to expand their skill set. He will work to maintain affordability while improving educational outcomes.

Iftekhar has a wealth of endorsements which includes the coveted College Of Lake County Federation Of Teachers. Together, the endorsers know that Iftekhar will look out for the students, faculty and community, and do what is right for all.

We see Vaseem Iftekhar as someone who comes to the table uniquely well positioned at a critical time for the College Of Lake County. He gets our enthusiastic support.
