Sunday afternoon brought the first community gathering in support of Alicia Timm, who is running for Lake County Board to represent district 17. The event was well attended reflecting the enthusiasm area residents have for her candidacy. Timm is a refreshing candidate in these overly partisan times. She is running for the right reasons and brings a sensible platform.
Timm of Lake Zurich says that on the County Board, she will remain dedicated to affecting solutions that benefit all residents.
One of her top issues is smart environmental protection. “We have a big storm water management challenge here in Lake County,” says Timm. “We can leverage open areas and native plants to mitigate flooding. It just takes planning, coordination and execution.” 43% of her county board district is unincorporated. Timm is thankful for the recent round of funding from DCEO which provides 30 million for Lake County. On the county board, Timm says she will work to insure that funding is used effectively and results in lasting positive outcomes for Lake County residents.
Her focus on smart land use has dimensions designed to help small business. Timm says that modernizing our infrastructure not only reduces time residents spend tied up in traffic, it is essential for the health of our local businesses. “Small business forms the backbone of our local economy and is how many working families survive,” says Timm. “On the county board, I will fight every day to help our small business community.”
Timm also understands directly the burden high property taxes places on our communities. She says she will work to bring all of the stakeholders together towards protecting taxpayers.
County board district 17 under the new map includes all or parts of Lake Zurich, Lake Barrington, Port Barrington, North Barrington, Barrington Hills, Island Lake, Tower Lakes, Wauconda, Lakemoor and Volo.
