The Lake County Democrats held an event called “Democrats Defending Democracy Flag Day Celebration” by the group. The gathering featured special guest Illinois House Speaker Emanuel “Chris” Welch.
Held at the Double Tree Hotel in Mundelein, local democrats packed into the convention room. Speaker Welch excited the crowd with his speech which featured achievements such as protecting women’s choice, banning assault weapons and protecting rights.
Numerous local elected officials and candidates also addressed the crowd, speaking largely about wins in the last cycle. The group was particularly proud of defeating all of the book banners in Barrington who flooded the ballot with candidates who were well funded with outside money.
